A tech leader with a range of experience and a sharp point of view

Camiel Irving is currently Vice President of Operations at Uber and the General Manager of US & Canada Mobility. After joining Uber’s pricing team in 2018, she played a key role in the company’s journey toward profitability.

“Coming from the CPG industry, I knew how to make to money. When you deliver outsized value to consumers, you earn the right to capture some margin. We experimented and identified parts of the portfolio where riders were willing to pay more.”

As GM of US & Canada, Camiel is responsible for the largest P&L in the ride share industry. Her role requires her to make decisions on a wide swath of topics from capital allocation, to customer experience, to regulatory strategy. She attributes her success to balancing analytical rigor with customer obsession.

“Growing this business requires a bit of heart and science. Every experimental result and every economic phenomenon in our marketplace is the output of human being making choices. So even the most data-driven decision has to be grounded in deep human insight.”

Camiel learned to run a business as a Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble where she helped grow iconic brands including Tampax, Charmin, and Puffs. After getting the traditional P&L experience, she moved to P&G Ventures where she founded a startup brand called Pepper & Wits (now Kindra), a line of self care products from people experiencing perimenopause.

Camiel is a member of Pipeline Angels, an angel investing community dedicated to changing the face of venture capital by investing in women/femme led companies. As an active alum of Management Leadership for Tomorrow, she volunteers her time to prospective and current MBA students of color to support their career development journeys. Camiel holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a B.S. from Xavier University of Louisiana.
